Audio sections

A recording can be divided into named sections — Intro, Verse 1, Chorus, Bridge — shown as colored bands folded into the top of the waveform. Sections make navigation and looping fast: repeated parts (like every chorus) share a color.

Sections always tile the track continuously — there are no gaps or overlaps. One section ends exactly where the next begins.

Where sections come from

• AI detection — run Sections from the file's AI Analysis panel and Stagemates detects the song's structure and names each part.
• By hand — create and refine them yourself in edit mode (below).

Your manual edits are always kept: re-running AI section detection only replaces sections the AI created, never ones you've touched.

Using sections while playing

• Tap a band to jump to the start of that section.
• Loop repeats the section under the playhead; while looping, tapping another band moves the loop there in one tap. The looped band is highlighted.

Editing sections

Toggle edit mode on the section bar:

• Split — click anywhere on a section to split it at that point. (This is also how you add your first sections: add one, then split.)
• Move a boundary — drag the handle between two sections; timestamps preview live while you drag. Sections have a 1-second minimum length.
• Rename — each section can be renamed in the list below the waveform; common labels are suggested.
• Remove — deleting a section folds its time into a neighbor, so the timeline stays continuous.
