Uploading audio

Attach recordings to a song — demos, rehearsal takes, reference tracks — and play them anywhere in the app from the docked player.

Upload a file

  1. On the song page, use the upload button in the Files card.
  2. Pick an audio file. Supported formats: mp3, wav, m4a, aac, ogg, flac, aiff, wma. Maximum size: 200 MB.
  3. The file appears in the list immediately; Play enables as soon as the upload finishes processing.

After upload, Stagemates automatically generates a waveform and streaming versions of the track — the waveform usually appears within moments ("Generating waveform…" in the meantime).

Plan limits

Files per song: 3 on Free, 20 on Pro and Band. Storage: 1 GB on Free, 20 GB on Pro, 100 GB on Band. See Plans and limits.

Per-file details

Each file has its own title, BPM, key, and notes, editable from the file's edit sheet. Files also display their detected key and BPM once analysis has run ("Analyzing key & BPM…" while pending) — use Copy key & BPM to song to promote detected values to the song's metadata.

Default track

One file per song can be the default (star icon → Set as default) — the take that represents the song. The first file you upload becomes the default automatically.

Deleting files

Use the delete action on the file row; you'll be asked to confirm.
