Creating charts

Open a song and choose New chord chart. The dialog offers four ways to create a chart — pick the one that matches what you're starting from.

AI · File — convert a PDF or photo

Upload a chord-chart PDF or an image (a photo of a paper chart works) and AI converts it into an editable chart. Conversion runs in the background — the chart shows Converting… and fills in when ready.

Counts toward your monthly chart imports allowance (5 on Free, 50 on Pro, 150 on Band).

AI · Text — structure pasted text

Paste chords-over-lyrics text (chords on their own line above the words, the way most tab sites format songs) and AI aligns each chord to the right syllable, producing an editable chart. Also asynchronous and metered as a chart import. Pasted text can be up to 8,000 characters.

ChordPro — write or paste ChordPro

Paste or type ChordPro — chords in [brackets] inline with the lyrics — and see a live preview as you type. This path is instant, deterministic, and uses no AI quota. It opens straight into the editor.

Upload — keep a scan as-is

Upload a PDF or image to keep as a document chart: displayed exactly as uploaded, never modified. Document charts can't be edited or transposed.

And one more: from a recording

You can also generate a chart directly from an uploaded audio file using the AI Analysis panel — see Audio analysis. That path is metered as an audio analysis rather than a chart import.

Editing a chart

Editable charts open in the chart editor, where you can change the title, set the key, and edit the body. Edits are saved as both the structured chart and its ChordPro source, so you can always go back to editing it as text.
